Arkham Winter of War tourament tomorrow

So the next Arkham is tomorrow and Jonny ''J65'' Fisher aka the top tourney organiser in N.I, hated in Munster and all round jammy dice roller looks again to not disappoint. Sadly though with Its_Pug aka Chris dropping out I'm the only guard player once again!

Jonny has fired up a provisional field list which could change but let’s see what roughly is going:

The story so far (a couple of lists are still outstanding):
BT - 1
BA - 3
CSM - 2
DA - 1
DE - 1
GK - 4
IG - 1
Nec - 4
Ork - 1
SW - 6
Tau - 2

The necron armies seem a bit top heavy, averaging about 850 points of HQ each.

In unrelated news, BA and GK techmarines are being overwhelmed with the demand for searchlights to be fitted to vehicles. An unnamed techie said, "I just don't get it, normally we never bother with the damn things, but now I can't send out a feckin shopping trolley without fitting it with a searchlight."

Hum, that’s a lot of Wolves still, Necrons are increasing in numbers and Grey knights surprisingly are not as abundant as they were, two tau players (Seriously more tau than guard?) a couple of chaos marines, a poor lonely Dark Eldar player who may cry, although I’m assuming its Alan ‘’Footloose’’ from team NI so he might be ok. The Dark Angels I’m guessing is Deathwing, the templar is probability rocket spam, and the single Ork is Jan I’m assuming unless he’s not going then it should be Scott.

Overall this could be a tough event army matchup wise...

Thankfully I'm all set with my army; and in the end I decided to not take the Blob for a couple of reasons. One I wanted to try a Mech guard list again for some fun and seeing how I’m the only guard player it at least means chimeras will grace the tables (Unless those thieving GK’s have them *shakes fist* and enjoy having ranged firepower. Two it hopefully throws off my opponents a little when I pull out tanks and they have got used to me playing Blob (It already worked once down in Lisburn Club where I got a league match in... but that’s another article.

Just a Pity Chris couldn’t make it so we could have some friendly guard rivalry to compete for top guard player pot and also to try to stick it to these dirty heretics

My list is as follows.

So slightly back to the mech lists of Ye old taking 2 Manticores for long distance armour breaking and thinning of hordes. Masses of chimeras for walling areas with meltas in all squads bar the platoon infantry squads; these instead have a GL and Autocannon, mainly CNC holding duty.

The list has two Hellhounds to help remove scarabs and hordes and I've given the dozer blades just to make sure they keep running.

I think for anti infantry I have 14 Heavy flamers, 2 hellstorm cannons and 2-6 large blasts. For anti tank I have 2 large blasts, 8 TL S7 and 4 S7 shots, 6 Melta units, (18 meltas... handy in case paladins come forward to me) and the usual mass of S6 multi laser shots, (24 i believe).

Now to see how it copes tomorrow at the event.

  1. Annoyingly enough my hellhounds had dozer blades and immob'd themselves far too often!! I think I had a total 9 results over 5 games out of 12 rolls

  2. That's pretty astonishing, lol. Hopefully next time I'll get a chance to sweep your Guard aside on my way to victory... :P
