Just wanting to say Merry Christmas to anyone who reads the Blog and a big thank you for doing so, it’s not even 3 months old and I'm hoping to put in as many posts for the next three months mixing it up with good units to add into blob armies, more tourney battle reports / practise games, some Death squads games from over Xmas break, as well as an Apoc game hopefully.

Practise Game on Sunday Vs New Necrons, part 2, the Sheridan experience
So I managed to get 2 games in on Sunday Vs Rowan and Luke. Excellent, gives me a chance to try out a hybrid guard list and Rowan gets some Necron learning time.

Secret Weapon Miniatures 6x6 Rapid Assault Vehicle released
So I've put in an order for 5 of These new kits. How could you not? they look awesome and in my opinion are actually better than GW's chimeras for a few main reasons.

Show and tell continued: the solar edition
So continuing on with my army show and tell I can now move on to the main body of the Solar 401st. I didn't quite realise the amount of pictures I'd taken before starting the last article it seems...

Show and tell: My Guard regiment and friends
At many points in collecting an army you will always get them all out and set down on a table to admire the growing forces. I Remember my guard army of old...

Arkham Autumn Annihilation Final thoughts
After Arkham I've mused over my performances and how the army fared, I think to a degree I was lucky as I didn't face purifiers, but I really wanted to get my teeth into an army including them for practise, or a Dark Eldar Venom spam army so I can see how I'd fare...

Arkham Autumn Annihilation round 5
So Game 5 the final chance for me to gain some more points to cover my terrible game 3, the fields tight points wise so hopefully I can gain a place or stay high. The matchups are generated and I'm playing another good friend Ray O'Kane, Grey knights. Why can't I play people I usually don't play cruel world.

Arkham Autumn Annihilation round 4
So we begin day 2, and to be honest I was a bit annoyed with myself after game 3, realising the mistakes I'd done on the drive home. So I was determined to win big as I'd dropped down to 17th in the rankings.

Arkham Autumn Annihilation round 3
Moving into Game 3 I’m in a good position (5th) so far. Then routine disaster strikes. I draw Scott and his orks... not again...

Arkham Autumn Annihilation round 2
With Game 1 over and me with a small win I'm hoping to avoid the tougher lists who got a 19-1, Parings are drawn and I get Darragh, Mordrak Grey Knights. The mission is:

Assault on Arkham Autumn Annihilation done and dusted
And what a great event! I loved it from the moment I set foot in the door chatting to guys I hadn't seen since the ETC right up to the slightly delayed prize giving, and i even won 2 prizes, one for bloodiest battle... bah humbug (I'll explain more on this in the game review) and a random set of dice from a put your hand in the bag and pull a prize which I donated to the lovely Mr Quigley.

Army Display Board
So in my frustration of never having a big enough tray for my guard armies I set out recently to finally build one which could finally handle a full mech guard army (I like to have at least 15 vehicles) or at the same time a full blob force (150 models roughly) so I had to settle on a frame of at least 50cm x 46cm, in the end I got a 60cm by 48cm as it provided a little extra security that armies would fit.

Blobs, the right loadouts?
Continuing my discussion about blobs in general ‘m going to now turn my attentions to their load outs. So I’ve already claimed I like 40 man blobs in the previous post as the basis numbers wise, mainly due to number of available bodies for soaking wounds, as well as making leadership tests harder to gain for the enemy.

A look at: Codex marines - Elites
Thought I'd fire up a quick review of the elites section since its friday afternoon (And I'm feeling lazy full from lunch)... Enjoy.

How big is an impressive Blob?
I’ve been researching what is the best number of bodies for a power blob through play testing, working out available wounds and costs to damage / survivability.

Death squads skirmish fun at Lisburn Club
For those of you not sure what I'm talking about check out Death Squads website. Basically it’s a Mordheim / Necromunda mix with 40k using small squads of infantry. You have heroes and henchmen to use easy to understand terms and you develop your squad buying more men, guns, weapons and equipment in order to come out top dog.

A look at: Codex marines - Troops
The next installment i'll voice my opinions on for the codex marines book is the troops, and dedicated transports less the Land Raider as I'll cover it in the Heavy support section.

Blob Guard Choices: Heavy weapon squads or Infantry Squad heavy weapons, and which heavy weapon?
Another decision I've been pondering greatly for my lists is separate heavy weapon squads or taking heavy weapons in my infantry squads. Now both have their own advantages and disadvantages and will lead to slightly different play style of the lists.

Blob Guard Choices: Priest or no priest in the lists.
The first decision post I’m going to chat about is the imperial priests, and with basically 3's across the statline Ld 7 and a 5+/4++ saves you don't get much for the 45 points right off the bat.

A look at: Codex marines - HQ
As I'd mentioned I'm also a codex marine (And other marines long side that, but the codex are my favourite) player, and thought I'd post up a breakdown of the units in the codex and my personal views/opinions of how I rate them.

Purchasing guard, How you can save your pennies for the Emperor
Being that guard are a numbers army it’s not a big shock to realise that they aren't one of the cheapest armies in 40k to start, but it is possible to save pennies and build yourself a solid force.

Practice games over the weekend Vs Codex marines
So on Saturday I went up to my local club in Lisburn (Lisburn Gaming Club) to play a few more practise games using the Arkham missions.

Choices, oh the damn choices.
After reviewing my list I found more and more things to change, but which are better and which changes work better with what changes is still torturing me.

Blob Guard, the untinned meat
Firstly welcome to the blog.
I'm going to use this Blog to document the progression and tactics etc employed when using a 'Blob' guard list and continue through evolutions of the lists and my findings.
